Wisdom Teeth Removal

The last four permanent molars to arrive have been labeled “wisdom teeth” since they coincide with adulthood. Most people get their wisdom teeth in their late teens and early twenties, and some people have no problems with these late molars. For others, the wisdom teeth can become impacted or cause other issues. At Horizon Dental Care, we can help our patients that need to have their wisdom teeth removed by providing a soothing environment and sedation options.

Wisdom teeth are large molars and require enough space to fit properly in the mouth. Often there is not enough room left for these final teeth, causing them to put pressure on the existing teeth. This can create misalignment of the teeth, undoing expensive dental treatments or cause pain. If it is determined that there is not enough room for the wisdom teeth to safely emerge, we may advise removing them to avoid possible interference with the other teeth.

Extracting Impacted Wisdom Teeth

In some cases, the wisdom teeth can become impacted in the gums. This can cause them to grow horizontally instead of vertically or not emerge from the gums at all. When this happens, it can cause many different issues, including sinus problems, infections, pain, teeth misalignment and more. Impacted wisdom teeth need to be removed to protect the oral health of the patient.

Wisdom teeth removal can be stress free when you come to Horizon Dental Care for your procedure. We have experienced, caring dental professionals that will walk you through every step of the process so you know what to expect. We have sedation options, and if all four wisdom teeth are being removed, most patients prefer to be sedated. We offer oral conscious and IV sedation for invasive procedures like wisdom teeth removal or oral surgery.

Your oral health and comfort are important to us at Horizon Dental Care. If you or your teen need wisdom teeth removal, you can trust us to provide the best care available. Contact us to schedule a consultation.
